Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.
Medina County Safety Council’s 2021-2022 fiscal year which will again be virtual per Ohio BWC's policies for Safety Councils. Our goal is to continue to keep our presentations short with valuable information each month, as well as an opportunity to have safety questions answered.
This year, the Medina County Safety Council is excited to present a monthly theme for our meetings, covering the Top 10 OSHA Violations! (Each month, our speaker will tackle a different OSHA violation to bring you and your team information about how to avoid these common workplace issues.)
MEETING TOPIC:
Respirator Programs, Face Masks and OSHA
Another top 10 OSHA violation topic is respirators and it’s moving up the list. Join us for this presentation featuring BWC safety experts Rick Maj (Industrial Hygienist) and Deb Bailey (Industrial Safety Consultant).

- Source control versus respiratory protection
- Elements of a respirator program
- Types of respirators
- Mandatory versus voluntary Program
Speaker Bios:
Rick Maj graduated from the University of Akron in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Management.
Rick joined BWC's Division of Safety and Hygiene in July, 1993. He successfully met the requirements set forth by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals and earned his CSP Certification in 1995.
As an Industrial Hygienist, Rick conducts surveys to identify, evaluate, and control air and noise hazards in the workplace. He is also an instructor for the Division of Safety and Hygiene OCOSH Training Center.
Deb Bailey earned an Associate Degree in Environmental Engineering from Lakeland Community College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the University of Akron.
An Industrial Safety Consultant with BWC's Division of Safety and Hygiene, Deb has over 25 years of industry experience including EHS Manager in a variety of manufacturing facilities as well as Sea World of Ohio.
Deb is an OSHA Authorized General Industry Trainer. She served on the Portage County LEPC and has experience in environmental remediation, asbestos abatement and waste water analysis.
Admission Fees
No cost to participate. Registration required.
Once participants register, they will receive an email with the details for logging into the Zoom meeting. Zoom is a free program that you can download for your desktop computer or mobile device. If you don't have a computer or mobile device, you can join the Safety Counctil meeting via phone.
