Buckeye girls’ basketball is off to a slow start in the early stages of the 2021-2022 season with four straight losses, including two last week.

On Nov. 29 Rocky River came to town and led from the start to beat the Bucks 57-44. It was tight in the first quarter with the Bucks trailing by only one, but Rocky River had a strong second quarter to make it a 28-20 game at half-time. The third quarter was tight as well, with Rocky River outscoring Buckeye 18-16 but the Pirates outscored Buckeye in the final frame 11-8 to wrap up the victory.

On Dec. 4 Buckeye lost a close matchup with Holy Name 49-45, with Kiki Schmock of Holy Name putting up 17 points to lead the Green Wave to victory.
