Buckeye boys hoops goes 1-1 to start December

The Buckeye boys basketball team went 1-1 last week including an impressive win over the Lincoln West Wolverines.

On Dec. 2 the Bucks had a blowout win over Lincoln West, ending with a score of 74-27. The Bucks had a major advantage in every category in the win, notably when it comes to shooting, where they made 48% of their shots, compared to 26% for their foes. The Bucks had an impressive 40 rebounds in the game, more than doubling the Lincoln West total of 19. Buckeye also had 18 assists compared to only one for the Wolverines,. Defensively, the team was on point with an 11-to-three advantage in steals. They also recorded the game’s only block.

Later, Buckeye lost a nail-biter on Dec. 4 to Parma by a score of 63-61, in a game where the Bucks once led by 14 points. It was a tight game most of the way as Parma started its comeback late in the second quarter, but it came down to defense and shooting efficiency. Parma shot 44% from the field compared to only 30% for the Bucks, however the Bucks did shoot 79% compared to 18% from the charity stripe. Defensively, Parma had 12 steals compared to seven for the Bucks. Parma also shot 38% from three-point land, compared to 23% for the Bucks.
