Buckeye boys' hoops hits .500 mark with win over Normandy

The Buckeye boys’ basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 4-4 with a 63-52 win over Normandy on Jan. 4.

The Bucks were up 15-13 after one quarter and then 26-22 at the half, and the contest was tight from the beginning. Normandy pulled ahead in the third quarter, outscoring the Bucks 19-12, but a big fourth quarter offensively and defensively for Buckeye changed the outcome, as the Bucks outscored the Invaders 25-11 to secure the win.

The Bucks were a force on the glass, out-rebounding Normandy 32-17. The Bucks were also efficient from the field going for 45% shooting from the floor, and 33% from the 3-point range. They also shot well from the free-throw line at 92%. Defensively the Bucks had six steals compared to three for Normandy.

The Buckeye boys’ basketball team had one game over the holiday break and fell in a tight battle at home against North Royalton, 64-62. 

Buckeye shot the ball better with a 44% clip compared to 40% for North Royalton, and also out-rebounded the the Bears 35-29, but North Royalton had 11 assists compared to four for the Bucks,  and managed to come away with a close win.
