Commissioners offer free CyberSecurity course

Cyber

County of Medina recently issued the following announcement.

The Medina County Commissioners are offering a free CyberSecurity Course to the community and anyone who would like to participate. The 8-hour course, funded by DHS/FEMA, will be held on Thursday, March 31 from 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. at the Medina County University Center, 6300 Technology Ln., Medina.

This course will demonstrate a variety of cyber-attacks from beginning to end, with full awareness of the attack chain for participants to review. Tools commonly used by bad actors and cyber defenders will be used to assist non-IT personnel to better understand how they can be part of the solution. Upon successful completion of this course, participants shall have a better understanding of the chain of events that occur, enabling various cyber-attacks to succeed and how elements of the cyber kill-chain can be disrupted to prevent attackers from succeeding.

There are two easy steps to sign up for the course:

1. Participants must have a FEMA Student Identification Number (SID) to attend class. To obtain a SID, register online at: https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid

2. Register for the class by clicking the following link: OGT632 REGISTRATION LINK

*Lunch is not provided; typically, lunch will run between 11:30 and 12 for a 1-hour lunch break.

Interested participants must register by Thursday, March 17.
