September is emergency preparedness month. The best defense when faced with disasters is preparedness. Every household should have a disaster plan in place for incidents that could occur.

Have a family meeting to involve everyone in the planning process. Discuss different types of disasters and write down solutions for each scenario. Develop a family escape and or shelter plan. Practice your plan. Organize your disaster supply kit.
