OCTOBER IS SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST AWARENESS MONTH-YOU CAN SAVE A LIFE!
You can make a difference to someone who goes into sudden cardiac arrest. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. Learning CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) can provide immediate support until EMS arrives. Another way is by using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). An AED sends an electric pulse or shock to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat. AED’s were developed to help save lives of anyone having sudden cardiac arrest. AED’s are in many public places so be sure to always check your surroundings for one. Almost anyone, even if untrained, can use an AED in an emergency.
