This morning, 4th and 5th grade students in the Applewood Leadership Club invited Superintendent Niedermeyer and Assistant Superintendent Verhest to speak about characteristics critical to effective leadership. Mr. Niedermeyer and Mrs. Verhest hosted an interactive workshop exploring the competencies outlined in the Journey of a Blue Devil. The students shared impressive examples of how they have refined their communication skills, developed a deeper sense of responsibility, increased their ability to adapt to the world around them, nurtured a sense of empathy, and challenged themselves by learning to think critically at Applewood.
5th grade teachers Mr. Dye, Ms. Mangus, and Ms. Yaniga and 4th grade teacher Ms. Mattox work with the Applewood Leadership Club and invite leaders from our community to speak at their meetings before school. It’s an incredible opportunity for students to connect with each other, the Applewood staff, and community members while honing their leadership skills. These connections make learning fun and leave a lasting impression on the students!
