Following the lift of the system wide boil water notice on customers, the City of Jackson wants to extend a special “Thank You” to the Mississippi Rapid Response Coalition and the City’s Constituent Services Department. The City and MRRC made a commitment to provide free, clean drinking water to residents every day we remained on a boil water notice or had low water pressure issues. Officials with both entities have worked through holidays and weekends to make that a reality.

“Unfortunately, out water system issues aren’t a new phenomenon to residents,” said Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba. “But since it is an issue that has a profound effect on our customers, I made it a priority for us to do everything we could do on our end – with the resources we have – to ensure clean water is available to those in need. We remain committed to that standard.” Since the beginning of the state-imposed citywide boil water notice beginning in August of last year to January 9 of 2023, the two entities have distributed over 1,400 pallets of drinking water. This equates to nearly 120,000 cases or roughly 4.2 million bottles of water. Over 60,000 families have been served.
