There were 32 Black students enrolled in Buckeye Local Schools in the 2022-23 school year, an increase from the 26 Black students in the previous school year, according to the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce.

Data showed that Buckeye Local Schools welcomed 2,134 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Black students made up 1.5% of the student body, making them the least represented ethnicity in the district.

Buckeye Local Schools roughly covers five schools within Medina County and has its main office in Medina.

Among the five schools in Buckeye Local Schools, Buckeye Primary School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 16 students.

In 2022, Ohio saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:15, which is better than the national average of 1:16. This marks an improvement for the state, especially compared to 2016, when the ratio reached its decade-high at 16.1 students per teacher.

Despite the apparent improvement, this positive trend is overshadowed by a general decline in public school enrollments, which was accelerated by the pandemic. This decline, aligned with the steady number of teachers in the state over the last 10 years, has led to low student-to-teacher ratios.
