State Representative Sharon Ray (R-Wadsworth) introduced legislation today aimed at supporting foster and kinship caregivers through the provision of publicly funded childcare. Ray is sponsoring the bill in conjunction with State Representative Andrea White (R-Kettering).

The proposed legislation stipulates that foster and kinship caregivers could receive publicly funded childcare from facilities licensed by the Department of Children and Youth while they are engaged in work or educational programs.

"We have a responsibility to uplift and support those who are caring for our most vulnerable children," said Ray. "I believe this legislation will provide caregivers peace of mind that their children are taken care of as they focus on providing for their families."

The bill is currently awaiting assignment of a number and House committee.
