The City of Wadsworth announced on Mar. 23 that its annual Spring Clean-Up Week will take place from May 4 to May 8. During this week, residents can place extra items at the curb on their regular collection day.
Spring Clean-Up Week is an opportunity for residents to dispose of additional household items and yard waste that may not fit in regular trash collection. The city says acceptable items include extra bags of trash, household goods, clothing, books, lawn furniture, bicycles, and small piles of loose brush. Leaves and grass must be placed in bags or containers with a maximum capacity of 30 gallons; each container or bag must have a yard waste sticker attached for pickup.
There are several restrictions during the clean-up week. Items weighing over 50 pounds will not be collected. Other excluded materials are liquid wastes, appliances, computer equipment, construction and demolition debris, furniture, mattresses, motor oil, paints, televisions, exercise equipment, and tires.
For those needing to dispose of large items not accepted at the curbside pick-up service during this period, the city advises they can be taken to the Transfer Station for a fee. Additional information about guidelines and fees is available on the city’s website at www.wadsworthcity.com/338/Spring-Clean-Up-Week.
The city encourages all residents to review what is permitted before placing items out for collection.
