October 10th is World Mental Health Day. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the pandemic has taken a toll on our mental health. Many aspects of mental health have been challenged.
The WHO reports that before the pandemic in 2019, an estimated one in eight people globally were living with a mental disorder and the COVID-19 pandemic has created a global crisis for mental health. There has been a rise in both anxiety and depressive disorders. At the same time, mental health services have been severely disrupted and the treatment gap for mental health conditions has widened.
The World Mental Health Day program was created to help promote mental health and create awareness about the issues associated with mental illness. Reconnecting through World Mental Health Day 2022 will provide an opportunity to address mental health issues, protect and improve mental health.
