Winter Storm Elliot Update 2:

Merry Christmas Eve! Oh, the weather outside is (still) frightful, and the wind doesn’t show signs of stopping, so if you’ve no place to go, stay inside and take it slow!

Street crews stayed out yesterday and through the night to keep drifts pushed back and to keep an eye out for the Grinch. No sign of him, nor any warm temperatures. Crews will continue to try and break open the main roads with the balmy temperatures today that are almost to double digits. Just like (insert lazy friends name here) salt just does not work well when it’s below freezing and these frigid temps take a toll on truck components. The hard packed (think of ice cream) on flat roadways is acceptable when temperatures are this cold.

The Parks crew and our contractor, Virtuoso Landscaping, have been busy all morning clearing downtown Wadsworth so you can do your last-minute Christmas shopping. For some of you…happy first day of Christmas shopping!

The Electric Department has had only two small outages that were repaired quickly by our talented crew. The Diesel generators at Friedt park were fired up last night and this morning to offset high energy prices that Scrooge has given us as an early gift.

The parking ban is still in effect so crews can clear the way for your sleigh, and Santa is prepared to drop off coal to those who don’t obey! Speaking of Jolly Old St. Nicholas, keep an eye out for Rudolph tonight: he will be needed in these weather conditions!
